The detailed routes of all three rides on offer as part of the Tour Ride Northamptonshire; Official Sportive of the Aviva Women’s Tour are now available.

Starting and finishing from the historic Delapre Abbey on Sunday 17th July, the three routes include an 80-mile Pro, a 40-mile Intermediate and a 10-mile Fun Ride, making it a day for all abilities to take part in. An event village with activities and competitions running throughout the day will also be set up as well as a Sports Taster Zone at Upton Park, half way around the Fun ride route, to add to the excitement of the day.

This official sportive of the Aviva Women’s Tour allows enthusiastic amateur cyclists to follow in the wheel tracks of the world’s best professional cyclists set the previous month and aims to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes.

80-mile Pro Route

This 128km ride has everything riders want from a sportive route and more; stunning views, Queen of the Mountain climbs, adrenaline pumping descents, sprint sections from the Aviva Women’s Tour and not to mention well stocked HIGH5 Feed Stations. 

Heading west out of Northampton riders will pick up the Aviva Women’s Tour route into Daventry and head north towards Kettering via Whilton and East Haddon before looping back down around Kelmarsh.  The route snakes its way through quaint little villages and along smooth country lanes before completing its journey on the finishing straight at Delapre Abbey. 

This route features 2 HIGH5 Feed Stops & 1 Water Station

40-mile Intermediate Route

This 65km route provides an excellent platform to challenge yourself or raise money for a chosen charity. The undulating nature of the Northamptonshire countryside is reflected in this route but riders will be rewarded with stunning scenery from start to finish. With the right training this course is an achievable target for beginners this summer. 

The route heads out to Daventry taking in picturesque Northamptonshire villages on the way before riders can enjoy a quick break and a flapjack at a HIGH5 Feed Station. Looping back round passing Norton and Harpole riders will conclude their route at Delapre Abbey.

10-mile Fun Ride 

Looking for something a little more leisurely or want a route that the whole family can enjoy? Leaving the iconic Delapre Abbey on a closed footpath the route quickly escapes the hustle and bustle of Northampton cruising alongside the beautiful canal system and on quiet cycle paths.

Half way into the ride there will be a water stop and a Sports Taster Zone at Upton Park where a host of activities available will add to the enjoyment of the day. It’s just £5 per person to sign up to this ride and enjoy a great family day out!

All three routes have been expertly constructed by our team of experienced route designers and will include comprehensive signage, broom wagon and motorbike marshals patrolling the route as well as fully stocked HIGH5 Feed stations with mechanical support. Participants will get to experience the ‘full-pro’ experience, being able to complete their ride in style travelling up the official Aviva Women’s Tour finishing straight and crossing the line under the gantry.
