The first of three stages in the East of England to end this year’s AJ Bell Women’s Tour gets underway in Southend on Thursday.

Can Dutchwoman Demi Vollering move a step closer to claiming this year’s overall victory in the 117.8-kilometre stage, one that starts in Shoeburyness and finishes along the cost in Westcliff-on-Sea?

Stage four will be the race’s first-ever visit to Southend, a famous seaside resort known for having the world’s longest pleasure pier, seven miles of coastline (including five Blue Flag beaches stretching from Shoeburyness to Leigh-on-Sea), and its vibrant cultural offering.
