In May 2014 the top cyclists in the world will race against Great Britain’s Olympic heroines and rising stars in The Women’s Tour – a new elite cycling stage race on the world’s elite calendar.
Taking place over five days in May, in the south east of England, the race will be very different from anything that currently exists on the world calendar. In addition to elite racing each day, the format will see a package of associated activities at each start and finish town inspiring women and their families to lead a healthier lifestyle and get involved in the fastest growing sport in UK.
The race will be televised each day on national TV and also transmitted in countries across the world.
The Women’s Tour will be organised by SweetSpot Group, the current organisers and promoters of The Tour of Britain, the UK’s largest men’s cycling race, and joint organisers of Prudential RideLondon.
The Women’s Tour is targeted to swiftly become the leading women’s event in the world, benefiting from the same technical and commercial expertise that has turned The Tour of Britain into a cornerstone of the UK’s sporting calendar.
The event will capture the spirit and excitement of the women’s 2012 Olympic Games Road race showcasing women’s sport and the associated brands that can support not only elite athletic performance but also a healthy lifestyle, balanced with the desire of women in sport to remain feminine.
