As well as the increase in participation, female Strava members are continuing to push themselves harder, with the number of women entering Strava Challenges increasing three fold this year versus last. Along with their individual successes, Strava women are embracing the social side of cycling with over 30% of all rides recorded as a group ride in the last 12 months.

As well as being popular amongst amateur riders, Strava is also used by many female professional riders who use the platform to upload training and racing data to connect with their fans.

The most popular female professional riders on Strava, based on Kudos received, are former Women’s Tour winner Marianne Vos (63,292 Kudos received), Olympic Team Pursuit gold medallist Dani King (13,632 Kudos received) and Australian Wiggle Honda rider Peta Mullens (11,787 Kudos received) – all three riders uploaded their rides from each stage of last year’s Women’s Tour.
