World Champion Lizzie Armitstead rode to victory in Tuscany on Saturday morning to win the opening leg of the new-for-2016 UCI Women’s WorldTour, taking victory from a group of three riders in Siena’s famous main square.

The Boels Dolmans rider took her second victory of the week, after her win in Belgium's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, to win the second edition of the women's Strade Bianche ahead of Rabo Liv rider Katarzyna Niewiadoma and Wiggle HIGH5's Emma Johansson.

With victory Armitstead leads the UCI Women's WorldTour, with the second event next Saturday (12 March) at the Ronde Van Drenthe in the Netherlands.
