Cervelo Bigla were celebrating at the conclusion of the Stoke-on-Trent Stage on Thursday, as Lisa Klein ensured a second day in the Eisberg Sprints jersey at the OVO Energy Women’s Tour.

Klein, who has recently won the Best Young Rider Classification at both the Healthy Ageing Tour and Festival Elsy Jacobs recently, took the jersey, sponsored by leading alcohol free wine brand Eisberg, having won the first intermediate Eisberg Sprint in Desborough, Northamptonshire during Stage One.

With other riders taking the points on day two, the 20-year-old German kept the red jersey going into Warwickshire’s Stage Three.

“The stage went well. It was good to finish in the first group. I had a bad moment before the first long climb and got dropped,” Klein said. “Christina [Perchtold] and Stephie [Pohl] brought me back. We went to the front together immediately, leading into the climb. In the end of the climb, I could follow in the second group and we came back after the top.”

“The most important thing is we are a strong team and working really well together. The girls gave me so much motivation today to be there and to fight and come to the front. I was covering attacks in the final to help Ashleigh. The communication is really good amongst us all and we’re following the plans really well.”

Stage Three in between Atherstone and Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire on Friday features two intermediate Eisberg Sprints, in Kenilworth and Wellesbourne.
