The 2020 Women’s Tour finale in Suffolk was launched on board the Cosco Shipping Star, one of the world’s largest container vessels, on Thursday 16 January 2020.
Bigla-Katusha rider Sophie Wright, the captain of the MV Shipping Star, and local stage partners joined Women’s Tour race director Mick Bennett at the event.
The Cosco Shipping Star, which measures 399m in length and can ship over 21,000 containers on its England to Singapore/China route, is currently docked at the Port of Felixstowe – the UK’s busiest container port.
The final stage of the 2020 Women’s Tour will take place between Haverhill and Felixstowe on Saturday 13 June. In a first for the race, riders will pass through the port in the closing kilometres before finishing on nearby Sea Road, which overlooks Felixstowe beach.
