The inaugural edition of the Friends Life Women’s Tour has been nominated for the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Sports Awards.

Thanks to public nominations, the first edition of the race, which took place from 7-11 May, has been nominated in the Event of the Year category.

Among the judging panel who selected the final shortlists for the ten awards were Baroness Tanni Grey-Thomson, Olympic star Beth Tweddle and Minister for Sport and Tourism Helen Grant.

Nominated alongside the Friends Life Women's Tour are the Commonwealth Games, the Yorkshire stages of the Tour de France and the Invictus Games.  You can find the full story about the other nominated categories by clicking here.

The inaugural edition of the Mirror and Sport England's awards take place on Wednesday 3 December at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
