Trek-Drops will return to the UK for the fifth edition of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour later this week with a young team that’s keen to impress. Eva Buurman heads into the OVO Energy Women’s Tour off the back of a great Lotto Thuringen Ladies Tour, where she showed some impressive form finishing in the top 10 in each of the six road stages.

British riders, Lizzie Holden, Manon Lloyd, Abby-Mae Parkinson, Hannah Payton and Abi van Twisk complete the line-up for the 13th round of the 2018 UCI Women’s WorldTour.

Team Director Bob Varney commented: “We are incredibly excited at the prospect of returning to the race for the third time with our new Dutch leader Eva Buurman heading up our young British team. We are proud to remain true to our founding principles of providing a happy and supportive environment for our young British riders to reach their full potential. Our riders continue to flourish and grow on the international stage.

“This continued progress now comes with a degree of expectation to deliver results at this level, a responsibility that we embrace. We plan to race and race hard all the way to Colwyn Bay.”

Eva Buurman looks forward to the event, saying: “I really look forward to the Women’s Tour. Thüringen gives me confidence for this race and I have good memories of riding the women’s tour two years ago. In addition to the challenging course, there were also so many people along the road to cheer for us which is so great!”

To sample some of the 2018 route yourself, there is still time to enter the official sportive of the race, which supports Breast Cancer Care.  The OVO Energy Tour Ride takes place in Suffolk on Sunday 1 July.  Find out more about the route and enter by clicking here.
