Now in their fourth season, Movistar have established themselves as one of best women’s teams in the world, helped in part by the arrival Dutch superstar Annemiek van Vleuten for the 2021 season.

Should she ride, van Vleuten will celebrate her 39th birthday during this year’s Women’s Tour, although she’s showed no signs of slowing: already this season she has won the Tour of Flanders and Dwars door Vlaanderen one-day races, and finished on the podium at Amstel Gold and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

American rider Leah Thomas finished eighth overall in the 2019 Women’s Tour riding for Bigla, while Danish star Emma Norsgaard will be one to watch in the sprints should she be selected.
