The Women’s Tour, the UK’s most prestigious international cycle race, brings world-class sporting action to the doorsteps of millions of people every June.

Completely free for spectators to watch, the race’s visit to cities, towns and villages across Britain brings communities together and creates a truly unforgettable, carnival-like atmosphere on race day.

These guidelines will help local residents, as well as those businesses who are not official partners of the race, promote the Tour’s visit and enhance community activation ahead of June’s big day!

Key wording

Local news organisations and community newspapers, as well as local business websites, can celebrate the race’s visit by using the sample factsheet below:

  • The seventh edition of the modern Women’s Tour will take place between Monday 7 and Saturday 12 June 2021.
  • A free-to-watch sporting spectacular, the race features Olympic and world champions. Past participants include London 2012 hero Lizzie Deignan, cycling legend Marianne Vos and Laura Kenny – Britain’s most decorated female Olympian.
  • It attracts an annual roadside audience of over 300,000 spectators.
  • Daily highlights of the Tour are shown on ITV4 and Eurosport in the UK, in addition to over 130 countries around the world.
  • The Women’s Tour generated £7.5m value to the UK economy in 2019 and over two million total TV viewers.
  • Over 85% of roadside spectators at the 2019 race described the event as “very enjoyable”.

The Women’s Tour will supply free-to-download banners and posters for businesses and residents to help promote the race’s arrival.

These assets will be available in May 2021.
